Patients want radiologists reading their exams. A study in the American Journal of Roentgenology found that patients strongly prefer radiologists to interpret their imaging exams over other healthcare providers, with 81% expressing comfort after receiving educational materials. The survey of nearly 2,000 patients also revealed misconceptions about which exams involve radiation and underestimated the extensive training radiologists undergo. Additionally, 84% of respondents were interested in consulting directly with a radiologist, highlighting the value patients place on radiologists’ expertise and suggesting potential for radiology consultation services.
EMSOW allows you to seamlessly send completed studies directly to the reading doctor.
You can send performed studies to the reading doctor in three ways:
- Physician Portal: The doctor logs into EMSOW’s PHYSICIAN PORTAL to view and report on images.
- Email: The doctor receives an email invitation to log in and read the images.
- PACS: Send images to an external PACS system securely.
You can choose the preferable way when adding a reading doctor or a reading facility account to EMSOW.
Before sending the performed studies to the reading doctors, make sure that all images and documents are attached and the reading doctors are properly assigned. To do this, open the Processing module and check the following:
1. The Images and the associated documents are attached in the Documents column.
2. A Reading doctor is assigned to every study.
If all the documents are attached and the reading doctors are assigned:
1. Select the Reading / Transfers tab.
2. Click the Send all button in every box:
3. If you need to send only some of the performed studies you can click the Send custom button next to the appropriate sending method, such as Physician Portal.
In the window that opens, choose the studies to be sent for reading:
4. Click OK.
